CrossFit has a tradition that I love. They honor our fallen warriors in the best way they know how – they make an incredibly difficult workout, and grace it with the name of the fallen. Regardless of which side of the political spectrum you sit on, I believe we can all agree that someone writing a blank check, redeemable at any time, for an amount up to and including their life in support of a belief in freedom is admirable.
One of my New Years resolutions was to do a hero WOD once each month during 2012. I didn’t want to do this as a celebration of fitness, nor as a celebration of self, but as a remembrance of individuals that I never met who made the ultimate sacrifice in some far off corner of the globe a belief in freedom.
There are heros out there every day – who put their ass on the line so that we can lay our heads on pillows.
